I’ll try to explain simply as I am a simple man. I have been professional mates with Mickey Spooner for a number of years. We used to trade together in the FX markets when we worked in The City. I also played football both against and with him.
By coincidence, over a game of Sunday morning football, Mickey explained to me his new venture. This seemed interesting as my wife had found some old pension/savings/investment plans at home and the marriage seemed made in heaven. Mickey came to the house with Bob Wilson and Andrew Crawford, we gave them various bits of paper – apparently important – and Bob took them away and did his stuff. I signed on the dotted line.
A week or so later, GreenSky called me to say ‘Binsey, you have X in your fund’. I asked them to handle It in as best way they thought and left them to it. The fund was treated as if I was one of their own. They were always keeping in contact, talking to both my wife and I in a way that we were both happy with. Emails, advice, suggestions. You name it, they did it. Just under two years on and the fund was worth a third more!
Greensky warned me of the investment risk of Brexit as I was approaching 55 but I decided to stay invested. Now that I am 55, with help from GreenSky, I took 25% of the fund tax-free and put the rest back in. The rest is now worth the same as the initial fund. Thank you Mickey, Bob, Andrew, Paul and the GreenSky Massive. The Ireland adventure is just a little closer…
